Open Meets

Open Meets are competitions normally organised by a club and run as a single event on one day or over a weekend. They are not part of a league and they tend to have qualifying times that have to be achieved in order to enter.

The main difference between a Gala and an Open Meet is that the swimmer is swimming as an individual while still representing their club.

Open Meets can be very long days depending upon how many events you enter so you need to have plenty of supplies! Nevertheless they are usually good fun and a great way to get times, for example, Hampshire County Championships and swim for personal bests.  Sometimes they can seem very competitive but it is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and socialise with other swimmers.
