James Moreno Open Meet – 8th Oct. 2013

The Isle of Wight Swim Team attended the James Moreno Open Meet Gala at the Southampton Quays Complex on Sunday 6th October. The Isle of Wight Squad comprised of 8 swimmers at this level 2 competition, which provided a very high calibre of competition and the aim for the IW swim team was to set a good quality base in this early season gala. Leading the way for the IW Swim Team was Luke Oakley who continued his impressive form  from the Island Games with a 2nd place in the 200m Freestyle in a time of 1m.59.73sec and a 4th place in the 100m Freestyle in a time of 55.75 sec. The younger swimmers in the squad were looking to produce qualifying Hampshire County Championship times, which are due to be released very shortly. There were personal bests for James Stirling in the 50m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle, Amber Backhouse in the 200m Individual Medley and 50m breaststroke, Megan King in the 200m Individual Medley and 50m Freestyle, Lelayna Blacklock in the 200m Individual Medley and Abigail Lacey in the 200m Individual Medley. Also competing in the IW Swim Team squad were Tilly Jones and Eleanor King.
